Emberhollow: privacy and rules
What we store
Playing offline stores nothing outside your phone. When you play online, the server stores:
- Your account: your email address (or, for older accounts, your username), your hero's name and appearance, and your password. The password is stored only as a salted, one-way hash, so nobody can read it, including us.
- Your email address is used only to confirm it's yours and to send you a link when you ask to reset your password. We don't send newsletters or share it, and other players never see it. Emails are delivered by an email service on our behalf.
- Your hero's progress: skills, items, bank, quests and where you are in the world.
- Chat: public chat is kept in the server's memory for a short time so it can be attached to a report. It isn't saved unless someone reports it.
- Reports and bans: if you report a player, or someone reports you, the report and the recent chat between you are saved for review.
- Your internet address: used only while you're connected, to limit sign-ups and password guessing. It may appear briefly in server logs.
There are no ads, no tracking and no analytics. Nothing is sold or shared with anyone.
Deleting your account
In the game, open Options and choose Request account deletion. Your account and hero are deleted within 30 days and can't be recovered afterwards.
If you can't log in any more, see how to ask by email.
Rules
By creating an account you agree to these rules. There is no tolerance for:
- harassment, bullying, threats or hate speech;
- sexual or otherwise offensive content, in chat or in names;
- scamming, cheating, or exploiting bugs to harm other players;
- spam or advertising.
Chat is filtered, and you can block or report any player by pressing and holding them. Reports are reviewed, and accounts that break the rules are banned.
